What Is HIFU?
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) has become one of Singapore's most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments for skin lifting and tightening. By delivering precisely focused ultrasound energy to specific tissue depths — including the SMAS (superficial musculo-aponeurotic system), the same layer lifted in surgical facelifts — HIFU triggers a natural wound-healing response that produces new collagen and elastin. Results develop gradually and peak at 3–6 months post-treatment.

Clinical results vary by device, operator skill, and patient anatomy.

The wide price range reflects device type and number of shots delivered. Always ask exactly how many HIFU lines/shots are included — 'full face' definitions vary widely between clinics.
HIFU can be uncomfortable to painful, particularly over bony prominences (jaw, temples). Ultherapy at its clinical protocols tends to be the most intense. Doctors can adjust energy levels to patient tolerance, though very low settings may reduce efficacy. Numbing cream and oral pain relief are commonly offered. Most patients tolerate it well with appropriate preparation.
A single session produces gradual improvement over 3–6 months as new collagen develops. Most patients need 1 session per year for maintenance. Those with significant laxity may benefit from 2 sessions in the first year. Results are subtle and natural-looking — not equivalent to surgery, but real and measurable for appropriate candidates.
